Webapp crash via unvalidated retrospective metric props
Published Apr 24, 2025 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Input validation failure in Mattermost 9.11.0 through 9.11.10, 10.4.0 through 10.4.2, and 10.5.0 allows attackers to crash the web app. RetrospectivePost directly passes metricsConfigs and metricsData props to JSON.parse without checking for valid JSON or expected metric-array types. An authenticated account can submit the crafted post, and rendering it interrupts the web app for all users.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.4.0 <=10.4.2
