Code execution via compressed-file path traversal
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Relative path traversal in Waterfall Security Solutions WF-500 7.9.1.0 R2502171040 and earlier allows attackers to execute code on the RX Host. The RX Host's MySQL connector extracts compressed files without rejecting archive entries whose relative paths escape the intended directory. Exploitation requires access to the TX Host, a configured MySQL connector, and file compression, and successful traversal enables code execution on the RX Host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
