Account takeover via server-unvalidated password change
Published Mar 4, 2026 · Updated Mar 4, 2026
Improper input validation in Suprema BioStar 2 2.9.11.6 allows remote attackers to take over accounts through a password change. The PUT /api/users/{id} endpoint accepts a new password after validation occurs only in the client, with no server-side check of the current password. Exploitation requires temporary possession of a valid session, after which the changed password provides persistent access to the affected account.
