CVE-2025-41242Network attack vector

File disclosure via unsafe static-resource path resolution

Published Aug 18, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2025

Path traversal in Spring Framework MVC 5.3.43 and earlier, 6.0.0 through 6.1.21, and 6.2.0 through 6.2.9 allows remote attackers to read files. The MVC static-resource handling path relies on the Servlet container to reject suspicious request-path sequences before resolving resources. Exposure requires WAR or embedded-container deployment, Spring resource handling, and a container or configuration that accepts those sequences; default Tomcat and Jetty security prevents it.
