Authenticated script execution via unvalidated addon layouts
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 4, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in appRain CMF 4.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser. The /apprain/developer/addons/update/bootstrap handler stores the data[Addon][layouts] and data[Addon][layouts_except] values without proper input validation before later page rendering. Low-privileged access and passive interaction by another user are required, limiting impact to that user's browser context.
