Stored XSS via unsanitized add-on layout fields
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 4, 2025
Stored XSS in appRain CMF 4.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to inject browser scripts through add-on layout fields. The admin add-on update route stores data[Addon][layouts] and data[Addon][layouts_except] without proper input validation before later web-page output. Exploitation requires authenticated access and passive interaction by another user, enabling script execution in that user's browser context.
