Stored script execution via unvalidated email-template fields
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 4, 2025
Stored XSS in appRain CMF 4.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to run script in another user's browser through email templates. The email-template add endpoint stores the message, subject, and template-type fields without properly validating attacker-controlled input. An authenticated user must save a crafted template and another user must view the stored content, exposing that user's browser session to script actions.
