CVE-2025-40979

Local code execution via Temp-directory DLL loading

Published Sep 10, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025

DLL search order hijacking in Grandstream Networks Wave before 1.27.11 allows local users to execute arbitrary code on Windows 11. The wave.exe process searches the per-user Temp directory and loads an attacker-placed DLL without constraining the library path. A low-privileged local user and passive execution of wave.exe are required; successful exploitation runs code in the process context and supports persistence.
