CVE-2025-40945

Local privilege escalation via unquoted search path

Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

Untrusted search path handling in Siemens IAM Client SDK allows local users of affected engineering products to escalate privileges. The SDK resolves critical code through an untrusted, unquoted search path instead of a fully qualified location, allowing attacker-controlled code earlier in the search order to run. Affected applications span COMOS, Designcenter NX, Simcenter, Solid Edge, Teamcenter Visualization, and Tecnomatix; exploitation requires authenticated local access and control of a searched location.
