Browser code execution via unsanitized trace file
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Eval injection in Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 devices allows attackers to execute code in an authorized user's browser via a trace file. The web interface insufficiently sanitizes imported trace-file content before evaluating it in the browser session. Exploitation requires social engineering a user with the Read diagnostics right; executed code can trigger PLC operations that the user is authorized to perform.
