CVE-2025-40846Network attack vector

Token theft via malformed returnUrl link

Published May 8, 2025 · Updated May 8, 2025

Open redirect and XSS in HaloITSM through 2.174.100 and 2.175.1 through 2.184.20 allow remote authenticated users to leak tokens. The Account Security Settings returnUrl handler incorrectly parses a malformed link without validating its destination or JavaScript content, enabling an external redirect and script injection. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted link, authenticate, and click the resulting returnUrl link; successful exploitation discloses that user's tokens.
