Privilege escalation via stale WebGL attribute state
Published Apr 29, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Mozilla Firefox before 138 and Thunderbird before 138 allows remote attackers to read outside a WebGL buffer on macOS. DoFakeVertexAttrib0 can return after modifying vertex attribute 0 without restoring it, so drawArrays forwards attacker-controlled state to gleRunVertexSubmitImmediate for an unchecked read. Exposure is limited to macOS; privilege escalation requires a chain with another vulnerability, and ESR branches are affected before 115.23 or 128.10.
