Session-cookie theft via unvalidated source name
Published Aug 29, 2025 · Updated Aug 29, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in OpenAtlas 8.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to steal session cookies through a crafted source name. The /insert/source handler accepts the POST name parameter without adequate validation, allowing injected script to run when the source is viewed. An authenticated attacker must create the crafted source and an authenticated user must view it; script execution can expose that user's session cookie.
