Local application crash via unbounded name input
Published Apr 29, 2025 · Updated May 12, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Code Projects Student Information Management System 1.0 allows local users to crash the application. The cancel function reads first_name and last_name with unbounded C++ stream extraction into fixed 50-byte stack arrays. A user must authenticate locally and select the affected menu path; the published proof of concept demonstrates an access-violation crash.
