CVE-2025-40584

Arbitrary file read via external XML entities

Published Aug 12, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

XXE injection in Siemens SIMOTION SCOUT, SIMOTION SCOUT TIA, and SINAMICS STARTER allows local users to read files via crafted XML. The applications’ XML parsers resolve external entity references in untrusted XML without disabling external resource access. Exploitation requires a user to open attacker-supplied XML, and the disclosed consequence is local file confidentiality loss only.
