CVE-2025-40314

Kernel availability loss via premature gadget release

Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Use-after-free in the cdnsp USB gadget driver in affected Linux releases allows local users to interrupt kernel availability during teardown. The __cdnsp_gadget_init() and cdnsp_gadget_exit() paths release pdev->gadget before freeing endpoints still linked through its ep_list, leaving dangling pointers. Reaching the flaw requires the cdnsp gadget path and either failed initialization or gadget exit; the public record does not establish code execution.
