Invalid kernel memory access via unchecked allocation
Published Dec 4, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in the DAMON sysfs interface in Linux 6.15 through 6.17.5 allows local users to cause invalid kernel memory access. damon_sysfs_commit_input passes a NULL test context returned by damon_new_ctx to damon_commit_ctx because it omits an allocation-failure check. The path requires root access to a CONFIG_DAMON_SYSFS build, a running DAMON context, an online parameter commit, and a failed kernel allocation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
