Malformed pidfs ioctl acceptance via incomplete command validation
Published Dec 4, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper ioctl validation in Linux 6.11 through 6.17.3 allows local users to submit malformed PIDFD_GET_INFO commands to pidfs. pidfs_ioctl_valid() accepted any command sharing the PIDFD_GET_INFO ioctl type, without checking its direction, command number, or minimum structure size. The flaw is reachable through a local pidfd ioctl, while the upstream advisory does not disclose a security consequence beyond accepting invalid request shapes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
