CVE-2025-40188

Kernel panic via wrong PWM enable register

Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in the Berlin PWM driver in Linux 4.9 and later allows attackers to panic the kernel during suspend or resume. The suspend and resume paths access BERLIN_PWM_ENABLE instead of the global BERLIN_PWM_EN register, causing an invalid address access. Exposure requires the Berlin PWM driver and hardware plus a suspend or resume transition; public records identify no attacker-controlled trigger beyond that transition.
