Out-of-bounds access via retained invalid quirk
Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Jun 16, 2026
Improper quirk validation in the Linux bytcr_rt5640 audio driver allows attackers to trigger out-of-bounds access. The log_quirks function reports an unsupported low-bit input map but leaves the global byt_rt5640_quirk value unchanged for later code to consume. Reachability requires control of the quirk module parameter during driver loading, normally administrative configuration, on systems using this Intel and Realtek audio path.
