Kernel compromise via raced net-device dereference

Use-after-free in the Linux TLS device path allows attackers to compromise kernels through concurrent socket and route operations. The get_netdev_for_sock function dereferences a cached network-device pointer during setsockopt without RCU protection while another thread removes and frees that device. Upstream Linux requires an unprivileged local account; Siemens rates its embedded GNU/Linux deployment as network reachable with low privileges, with disclosure, modification, or service interruption.
