Kernel crash via unchecked codec callback
Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel allows attackers to crash affected systems during Intel SOF SoundWire link creation. create_sdw_dailink() calls codec_info->add_sidecar without checking that the callback exists when include_sidecar is set on a link containing another codec without that callback. Reachability requires an Intel SOF SoundWire configuration with mixed codecs on one link; no user-controlled trigger has been published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
