Kernel crash via unready SSPP validation
Published Oct 28, 2025 · Updated Oct 28, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 6.16 allows local users to crash the kernel through a crafted DRM plane update. In dpu_plane_is_multirect_capable(), multi-rectangle validation dereferences the current plane's SSPP before that plane has been associated with an SSPP. A local account with access to the DRM set-plane ioctl and MSM display hardware is required; the demonstrated consequence is a kernel Oops.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
