Improper hgatp handling in RISC-V KVM in Linux 5.16 through 6.17.2 allows attackers to cause an unspecified impact. The VMID detector writes HGATP_VMID while preserving an existing MODE=Bare value, leaving other fields nonzero despite the architecture requirement; the fix writes the detected valid guest-stage mode instead.
