Kernel crash via unchecked pin-function name
Published Oct 28, 2025 · Updated Oct 28, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel pin control allows local users to interrupt service during pin-function registration. pinmux_func_name_to_selector() passes a NULL name returned by get_function_name() to strcmp() instead of rejecting the failed lookup. When a new pin function exercises this path, the kernel oops can become a panic or reboot according to the system's panic-on-oops settings.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
