System hang via ignored vmalloc allocation mask
Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper locking in the Linux kernel allows local users to hang the system through XFS-triggered vmalloc activity. During KASAN shadow population, kasan_populate_vmalloc() and page-table helpers discard the caller's GFP_NOFS or GFP_NOIO mask and allocate with GFP_KERNEL outside the required memory-allocation scope. Reachability requires an XFS workload on a KASAN-enabled kernel; recursive filesystem reclaim then deadlocks the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
