Authenticated service interruption via compiled search regex
Published Apr 27, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2025
ReDoS in the management webapp of Apereo CAS 5.2.6 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service through a crafted search query. The search method inserts the raw query between ^.* and .*$, compiles it with RegexUtils, and matches it against every service ID, name, and description. Access to the management webapp search endpoint is required, and a pathological expression consumes CPU while the registry is scanned.
