CVE-2025-39757

Memory disclosure or crash via malformed UAC3 descriptors

Published Sep 11, 2025 · Updated Jun 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in Linux ALSA USB audio allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the system via a malicious UAC3 device. The sound/usb/stream.c parser processes cluster segment descriptors without first ensuring that the remaining buffer contains the descriptor header and its declared length. Exploitation requires locally supplied malicious UAC3 firmware; SIMATIC CN 4100 versions before V5.0 also contain the affected kernel code.
