Kernel hang via live-core trampoline rewrite
Published Sep 11, 2025 · Updated Sep 11, 2025
Race condition in Linux on RK3188 ARM systems allows local users to hang the kernel during symmetric multiprocessing initialization. In rockchip_smp_prepare_cpus(), the boot CPU copies secondary-core trampoline code into SRAM while secondary CPUs remain powered, so a secondary CPU can execute the code during the write. The condition is limited to Cortex-A9-based RK3188 multiprocessor startup and produces a rare boot hang without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
