CVE-2025-39712

Local media-operation hang via duplicate subdevice locking

Published Sep 5, 2025 · Updated Sep 5, 2025

Improper locking in Linux 6.7 through 6.12.43 and 6.13 through 6.16.3 allows local users to hang MT9M114 media operations. The mt9m114_ifp_get_frame_interval() and mt9m114_ifp_set_frame_interval() callbacks reacquire subdevice state already locked by the V4L2 core, producing a self-deadlock instead of returning the requested interval. Triggering the condition requires local access to an MT9M114 camera device and interrupts frame-interval operations without exposing or modifying data.
