Local system crash via NULL packet dereference
Published Sep 5, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel Iris video driver 6.15 through 6.16.3 allows local users to crash the system. iris_hfi_gen2_handle_system_error reads the packet argument to log its type even though the system-response path can pass NULL. Reachability requires low-privileged local access and the Qualcomm Iris video-decoder path; the documented consequence is availability loss only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
