Local kernel crash via unchecked display lookup
Published Sep 5, 2025 · Updated Sep 5, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in the AMD display HDCP path in Linux allows local users to crash the system by creating an HDCP session. mod_hdcp_hdcp1_create_session() dereferences the unchecked result of get_first_active_display() when the display list is empty. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an AMD display HDCP path with an empty active-display list; the bounded impact is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
