CVE-2025-3887Network attack vector

Remote code execution via malformed H.265 slice headers

Published May 22, 2025 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in GStreamer gst-plugins-bad before 1.26.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via malformed H.265 streams. The H.265 slice-header parser copies an unvalidated user-controlled length into a fixed-length stack buffer. A GStreamer-based application must process the crafted stream; successful exploitation runs code in that application's process, while the upstream advisory confirms a crash.
