CVE-2025-3879Network attack vector

Azure login restriction bypass via unchecked claims

Published May 2, 2025 · Updated May 2, 2025

Incorrect authorization in HashiCorp Vault and Vault Enterprise allows remote authenticated users to bypass Azure login location restrictions. The Azure auth login path accepts user-supplied vm_name or vmss_name values without matching them to the Azure-issued token claims used by bound_locations. Exploitation requires a valid Azure-signed assertion and suitable login parameters; any resulting Vault access remains limited by the policies assigned to the authenticated role.
