CVE-2025-38729

Kernel memory corruption via unchecked UAC3 descriptor length

Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated May 12, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in Linux ALSA USB audio and SIMATIC CN 4100 before V5.0 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory. The validator in sound/usb/validate.c accepts UAC3 power-domain descriptors without checking their variable bLength before accessing descriptor fields. Reachability requires local attachment or control of malicious USB audio firmware; malformed descriptors can compromise kernel confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
