System crash via unchecked STM32 match data
Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel's STM32 SPI driver allows local users to crash affected systems during device probing. In stm32_spi_probe, of_device_get_match_data can return NULL, but the driver dereferences cfg->has_device_mode without first validating cfg. Local access and an STM32 platform-device configuration with unavailable match data are required; the reported consequence is a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
