CVE-2025-38582

Local privilege escalation via reserved-QP double destruction

Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Double destruction in the Linux kernel RDMA/hns driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during HNS RoCE initialization. If reserved-QP allocation fails partway, free_mr_init() destroys allocated QPs but leaves dangling array entries that hns_roce_exit() destroys again. Access to RDMA uverbs plus resource pressure and a driver initialization or reset path is required; the resulting use-after-free permits kernel read/write primitives, privilege escalation, or a panic.
