Guest memory corruption via missing cache eviction
Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Cache-coherency failure in Linux 5.19 and affected later branches allows attackers to corrupt private SEV-SNP guest memory. The page-validation path marks memory private without touching each 4K page's first and last bytes, allowing stale cache lines to overwrite validated data. Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised co-resident hypervisor and an AMD SEV-SNP guest whose COHERENCY_SFW_NO bit is unset.
