Local system hang via unresponsive camera sensor
Published Aug 16, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to hang systems by querying a connected HP 5MP camera sensor. The HID layer exposes a nonexistent sensor interface for USB IDs 04F2:B824 and 04F2:B82C, so iio_info makes runtime PM wake an unresponsive device. Exploitation requires a connected affected camera and local access, and the resulting consequence is a system hang.
