Authenticated account takeover via trusted studentId
Published Apr 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Unverified password change in YXJ2018 SpringBoot-Vue-OnlineExam 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to reset student passwords. The /api/studentPWD handler accepts a caller-supplied studentId and updates that account's password without binding the identifier to the logged-in account or verifying the prior password. Any logged-in account can target another student's identifier and then authenticate with the replacement password, resulting in takeover of that student account.
