System hang via active USB bus during suspend
Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel allows local users to hang a system during suspend while USB gadget Ethernet transfers data. The ChipIdea UDC suspend path gates the controller clock while leaving an active USB bus connected, so queued requests later access registers with the clock disabled. The condition requires ChipIdea USB gadget Ethernet, in-flight traffic, and a suspend or resume cycle; the resulting availability loss lasts until recovery from the hang.
