Local system crash via unchecked device-name allocation
Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel allows local users to crash the system during TPS6594 PFSM device probing. In tps6594_pfsm_probe(), devm_kasprintf() can return NULL for pfsm->miscdev.name, and the probe path uses that unchecked pointer. Triggering the fault requires local low-privileged access and the TPS6594 PFSM driver probe path; the documented consequence is a service-interrupting kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
