Traffic injection via fragmented group-addressed Wi-Fi frames

Improper frame validation in Linux kernel mt7996 Wi-Fi drivers allows physically proximate attackers to inject and intercept network traffic. The mt7996 receive path accepts fragmented 802.11 frames with a multicast or broadcast receiver address even though fragmentation is valid only for unicast frames. Exploitation requires a crafted group-addressed frame within Wi-Fi range with hardware receive decapsulation enabled; the result includes attacker-chosen traffic injection, traffic interception, and limited service disruption.
