CVE-2025-38289

System crash via freed lpfc nodelist access

Published Jul 10, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel lpfc driver 6.12.5 through 6.12.36 and 6.13 through 6.15.2 allows local users to crash the system. In dev_loss_tmo_callbk(), error handling can remove the initial nodelist reference before the function accesses the ndlp object, leaving the callback to dereference freed memory. The path is limited to systems using the lpfc Fibre Channel driver and is reached during driver unload or fatal-error handling, producing a service-interrupting kernel crash.
