Kernel warning via unscheduled NAPI completion
Published Jul 10, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Improper NAPI completion in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users with CAP_SYS_ADMIN to trigger a kernel warning via netpoll. The netdevsim polling path calls napi_complete_done() during netpoll even when netpoll has prematurely cleared the NAPI scheduling bit. Creating the simulated device and configuring netconsole or netpoll require root-only operations, and published evidence demonstrates a warning rather than a broader service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
