CVE-2025-38239

Kernel-memory disclosure and panic via invalid NUMA index

Published Jul 9, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

An out-of-bounds read in the Linux megaraid_sas driver allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the system through procfs. megasas_set_high_iops_queue_affinity_and_hint passes a NUMA_NO_NODE result of -1 to cpumask_of_node, poisoning an IRQ affinity hint that a world-readable procfs entry later dereferences. A MegaRAID SAS controller and DRAM interleave are prerequisites; the vulnerable state forms during driver probing, while an unprivileged local account can trigger the disclosure or kernel panic.
