Local denial of service via stale allocation state
Published Jul 4, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel imx-jpeg driver from 5.13 allows local users to crash the system through allocation failures. Failed allocations leave driver bookkeeping uncleared, so later allocations falsely appear failed, buffers remain uninitialized, and kernel code dereferences NULL. Reachability requires local low-privileged access to a system using the NXP i.MX JPEG driver; the reported consequence is an availability-only crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
