Local kernel impact via unchecked ublk dimensions
Published Jul 4, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper input validation in the Linux kernel ublk driver from 6.0 allows local users to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The ublk_ctrl_add_dev function copies device information from userspace but fails to reject queue_depth or nr_hw_queues values above defined maxima. Low-privileged local access to the ublk device-add control path is required; upstream sources do not describe the resulting corruption or failure mode.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
