Filesystem shutdown via stale F2FS segment summary
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
F2FS availability flaw in Linux 6.6.33 through 6.6.129 and 6.9 allows local users to stop a mounted filesystem. f2fs_gc_range migrates a block from an open current segment while its latest summary remains cached, leaving the SSA and SIT segment types inconsistent. A mounted zoned F2FS volume and the ability to create, pin, and extend a large file are required; the resulting critical error stops filesystem checkpointing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
