CVE-2025-38160

Local kernel crash via unchecked allocation failure

Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Raspberry Pi clock driver in Linux 5.9 and later affected branches allows local users to crash the kernel. During clock registration, raspberrypi_clk_register() passes an unchecked NULL result from devm_kasprintf() into later processing when memory allocation fails. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access, the Raspberry Pi clock driver, and an allocation failure; the documented consequence is a kernel crash only.
